Access Statement

Location
Chough’s Nest Hotel is situated on North Walk in Lynton, on the North Devon coast.
North Walk is a narrow, single-carriage road accessed via North Walk Hill, which is steep and climbs from Lynton town centre. Lynton itself sits approximately 500 feet (152 metres) above sea level, and the surrounding area is characterised by steep roads and footpaths, including Lynmouth Hill and Countisbury Hill, which reach gradients of up to 1 in 4 (25%) in places.
Arrival & Parking
We provide private car parking only for hotel guests and it is fully flood-lit at night.
The car park is located approximately 50 yards (45 metres) beyond the hotel entrance. The route from the car park to the hotel follows a level, tarmacked road before reaching the hotel grounds.
Access from the road to the hotel entrance is via a tarmacked sloping path together with a series of steps through the front garden.
There is no vehicle access beyond the hotel car park towards the Valley of Rocks or the South West Coast Path.
Entrance
The hotel building is positioned approximately 20 feet (6 metres) above road level.
The main entrance has a small step of approximately 4 inches (10 cm) into the front porch.
The Building
Chough’s Nest Hotel is a Victorian property dating from the nineteenth century.
The hotel has three floors:
- Ground floor
- First floor
- Second floor.
The hotel does not have a lift.
The ground floor includes the lounge, dining room, guest toilet and outdoor terrace.
Stairs
Access to all guest bedrooms is by staircase.
The staircase to the first floor is fitted with a rope handrail. The staircase from the first floor to the second floor has a traditional wooden balustrade handrail.
Bedrooms
All guest bedrooms are located on the first and second floors.
If you would prefer a first-floor room, please let us know when booking and we will do our best to accommodate your request, subject to availability.
All bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms.
Each bathroom includes a bath with an overhead shower. We do not have any walk-in showers.
None of our bedrooms can be configured as twin rooms.
